Midwest Miata Gathering X -
Dry Ridge, KY
11 - 13 September 2009
We left early Friday morning to meet up with 2 cars from the Gateway Miata Club and caravanned to Dry Ridge, Kentucky for the MMG X. Dave Stroup from the Gateway club led us down there, getting off the Interstate a while before Dry Ridge for some curvy roads. We saw lots of tobacco growing and drying in the barns.

We arrived at the Hampton Inn, checked in and met some new fellow Miata enthusiasts. That evening, we went to the Elk Creek Winery for a great buffet dinner and wine tasting. There was live entertainment also. The Abe Lincoln and Gateway members closed the place down. One of the waitresses asked us if we were still partying. We decided to head back to the hotel since we had an early morning event.

Saturday morning we went out to Kincaid Lake State park. There were 3 seminars and a car judging. The 3 seminars were a driving clinic, detailing clinic and a forced air induction discussion. I think that David and Kevin are planning on purchasing a buffer for their cars after seeing the detailing demonstration! It was impressive!

We had a lunch of grilled burgers and hot dogs with some sides. After lunch there were some self guided drives you could take or one that was led to Cynthiana for dessert. We chose the dessert run (of course!) and when we arrived, there was an old car show going on. We all parked in the parking lot next to the car show and soon people were looking at our cars also! After some ice cream, we drove back to the State Park.
